In Telavi Municipality, six inventoried privately-owned land plots will be designated as windbreaks
The National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring has been implementing the state program for the inventory of windbreak (field protection) strips since 2021. Cadastral survey drawings are prepared for the inventoried areas and registered with the National Agency of Public Registry. It is important to mention that the inventory identified areas of former windbreaks that are privately owned. In the Telavi Municipality, Napareuli village, through cooperation and negotiations with the agency, the owner of six land plots agreed to designate their land as windbreak (field protection) strips and to register them with the National Agency of Public Registry.
The state has declared the development of the windbreak system a priority, emphasizing their restoration and construction. This process is possible only on agricultural land plots in Georgia that are registered as windbreak strips and have undergone inventory. Therefore, cooperating with private owners to grant status to windbreaks is of particular importance.
From 2021 to 2023, 3,990.67 hectares of windbreak strips were inventoried in seven municipalities. The process of inventorying windbreak strips and negotiating with the owners of privately owned windbreaks is ongoing.
