The National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring hosted a meeting with the Delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan
Giorgi Misheladze, the Chairman of the Agency, introduced the Agency's structure and functions to the members of the State Institute of Science and Planning “Uzdavyerloyiha” delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He provided a brief overview of the history of land reform and the legal foundations that underpin the agency's creation and activities. During the meeting, department heads discussed issues related to windbreaks and pasture management, which the agency addresses through various projects. The discussion also covered the creation of a unified land resources database. The delegation was informed about the development of a land information system using geo-information technologies, incorporating best practices from around the world and EU directives.
Members of the Uzbekistan delegation discussed the structure and activities of the State Institute of Science and Planning. The institute comprises 850 employees and 13 regional branches, working to create opportunities for sustainable land use in the country and prevent disputes and conflicts related to land. The members of the delegation also spoke about the criteria for assessing the normative value of agricultural land, conducting geobotanical surveys of pastures, and other related topics.
During the 4-day visit, a meeting with the delegation members was held at the Department of Hydromelioration and Land Management of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. As part of the visit, the delegation toured National Wine Agency, Ltd. Georgian Amelioration, the members also visited the trial-demonstration base for annual crops at the Scientific and Research Center of Agriculture in the village of Tsilkani, and the National Environment Agency. Additionally, a working meeting was held at the National Agency of Public Registry.
