Within the Framework of the State Program for the Inventory of Windbreaks (Field Protection) the 2025 Inventory Work has Commenced
At this stage, the windbreaks (field protection) in Gori Municipality are being inventoried and inspected by the monitoring department of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring.
The Chairman of the Agency, Giorgi Misheladze, reviewed the completed work and inspected the inventoried windbreaks at multiple locations.
Within the framework of the program, a total of 3,056.52 ha of windbreaks are planned for inventory this year across the municipalities of Tianeti (112.82 ha), Mtskheta (755.2 ha), Khashuri (459.28 ha) and Gori (1,729.22 ha). Except for Tianeti, all these municipalities fall under Category I for wind strength, indicating that prevailing winds cause severe soil erosion in these areas.
Between 2021 and 2024, a total of 6,675.53 ha of windbreaks were inventoried across 12 municipalities. The assessment included evaluating their actual condition, documenting the species composition of woody plants, and analyzing their quantitative and qualitative characteristics. Currently, 4,064.93 ha of agricultural land have been registered as windbreaks with the National Agency of Public Registry, with the registration process still ongoing.
