A working meeting with farmers was held in Sagarejo on the restoration of windbreak belts

The restoration and planting of windbreak belts in Sagarejo were discussed at a working meeting with representatives of the municipal local government and farmers.

Paata Chipashvili, Head of the Agricultural Land Management and Protection Department of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, introduced the meeting participants with a detailed measures on the state-planned activities related to the restoration of windbreaks.

The meeting was attended by the Mayor of the Municipality, Vakhtang Kakutashvili.

Farmers received information on the benefits of windbreak belts and the full restoration and planting cycle, which includes the individual design of windbreaks, planting of woody plants, and a five-year maintenance period.

The meeting emphasized that windbreaks have an important environmental function, protecting soil from wind erosion, which directly impacts crop yields and the long-term stability of farms.

Farmers whose land plots border state-owned windbreaks participated in the discussion. They spoke about the challenges related to their protection. Emphasis was placed on the proper involvement of local communities in the maintenance of the plantations, which is crucial for the success of the project.

In the Sagarejo municipality, windbreak belt status has been assigned to 421.91 ha of land and is registered with the National Agency of Public Registry. Registration with windbreak status constitutes a key prerequisite for initiating restoration and planting projects for windbreak belts.
