Data on land resources of Georgia has become publicly available

By integrating geospatial information on the Land Fund of Georgia with the data analysis and visualization platform Microsoft Power BI, it has become possible to obtain analytical data on land resources in an interactive mode. The business analytics platform Microsoft Power BI was developed by the Microsoft, and its primary purpose is to collect, process, analyze, and visually present data obtained from various sources.

The data includes information on both agricultural and non-agricultural land, broken down by area and regional distribution. The platform enables users to obtain updated information within a single environment in the form of both static tables, as well as interactive graphs, diagrams and comparative analysis.

The statistical data are based on the CORINE Land Cover classifier developed by the European Union, which is widely used in Europe for recording and comparing land-use data according to a unified standard. The classifier ensures the compatibility of Georgia’s data with international datasets.

Easy access to the analysis of land resources will assist government institutions, the business sector, and investors in decision-making and in the efficient planning of projects, while also enabling students, researchers, and the media to easily obtain relevant information.

The data are available on the unified geographic information portal of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia (portal.mepa.gov.ge) and on the website of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring (https://land.gov.ge/Ge/Services/Database).
