The Land Resources Database Will Support Risk Mitigation for the State and Business
Land fund data, created through the application of modern technologies and international standards, provides high reliability which allows the country to have accurate information regarding its land resources.
According to Giorgi Misheladze, Chairman of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, every activity is based on land. Primarily, this is crucial for the State to understand its available resources and plan state programs accordingly.
"The State may aim to implement a specific program, but in reality, the capacity within that sector might not exist. For example, there may be a desire to cultivate more land in Western Georgia and fund programs for it, but the areas might actually be waterlogged and require drainage. Without accurate data, the State might offer farmers programs that are impossible to implement. Therefore, the database allows both the State and the private sector to correctly plan future activities," Misheladze stated.
He noted that the database is invaluable for scientific circles. Annual observations allow us to see the dynamics—identifying where land has undergone afforestation or, conversely, where reclaimed land has returned to agricultural circulation.
The unified land database enables the state to accurately plan programs and correctly manage existing resources, while helping businesses and farmers avoid incorrect investments and risks.
