Cases of Damages to State-Owned Windbreaks Identified in Dedoplistskaro
During land use monitoring conducted by the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, cases of arbitrary use and damage to state-owned windbreaks were identified in the village of Zemo Kedi, Dedoplistskaro Municipality.
As a result of on-site inspections of three land plots by specialists, it was established that two windbreak plots, with a total area of 2.94 hectares, have been fully occupied and ploughed. On the third land plot, with an area of 2.13 hectares, damage to the land surface was recorded where an artificial trench of 479 sq. m has been created using machinery.
State-owned land plots registered with the status of windbreaks are subject to the requirements established by the Law of Georgia “On Windbreaks (Field-Protective Belts).” These actions constitute a violation of the law, causing damage to the region’s ecosystem and directly contradicting the functional purpose of windbreaks.
For the purpose of further legal action, the complete documentation reflecting the violations has been forwarded to the Department of Environmental Supervision.
