National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring

Local Government representatives in the Kakheti region familiarize themselves with the State Program “Access to State-Owned Pastures”

Giorgi Misheladze, the Chairman of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, introduced the details of the program to Irakli Shioshvili, the State Representative of Kakheti Region, and the mayors of the municipalities of the region.

The selection of state-owned pastures for lease is made in agreement with the relevant municipality. Therefore, it is important for local government representatives to acquire comprehensive information about the new program.

The "Access to State-Owned Pastures" program enables livestock owners to acquire and utilize desired pastures via an auction under a three-year lease agreement. Approved by the Government of Georgia on October 6 of this year, the program aims to encourage efficient pasture utilization, safeguard pastures from degradation, and foster the livestock sector's growth by establishing clear private responsibility for pasture management.

During the meeting, the State Representative discussed the current situation in the area regarding this matter and emphasized the importance of anticipated positive outcomes from the implementation of the program.
