In Akhaltsikhe Municipality, the State Program “Access to State-Owned Pastures” was introduced to farmers and village representatives
Within the framework of the information campaign of the State Program Access to State-Owned Pastures, meetings with farmers and representatives of local authorities in various regions are ongoing. Recently, the Chairman of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring met with farmers in Akhaltsikhe Municipality. The meeting, organized by the "Georgian Farmers' Association" at the "Center for Democratic Engagement", provided farmers with detailed information about the program and facilitated discussions regarding the opportunities available to beneficiaries.
The new program was the focal point of discussion during the meeting with village representatives of Akhaltsikhe municipality. They discussed the details and procedures of leasing state-owned pastures through auctions and explored the role of local government in implementing the program.
The "State-Owned Pastures" program allows livestock owners to secure and use preferred pastures through an auction within the framework of a three-year lease agreement. The program approved by the Government of Georgia on October 6 of this year, aims to promote rational pasture use, protect pastures from degradation, and simultaneously facilitate the development of the livestock sector by establishing legitimate private responsibility for pastures.
