The State Program “Access to State-Owned Pastures” was introduced to the Local Government of Kvemo Kartli
The chairman of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, Giorgi Misheladze, introduced the details of the program to the Kvemo Kartli State Representative, Shota Rekhviashvili and the mayors of the region's municipalities. During the meeting, discussions focused on the conditions for the inclusion of farmers in the program, the role of local government in managing the process, and the overall goals of the program.
During the meeting, Giorgi Misheladze noted that the program includes measures to prevent the degradation of state-owned pastures. This, in turn, will provide our village population with the opportunity to enjoy high-quality pastures.
According to Shota Rekhviashvili, the State Representative of Kvemo Kartli, this program, in fact, represents a state reform focused on pastures. It enables the effective utilization of available resources, thereby safeguarding the suitability and productivity of the land.
The "State-Owned Pasture" program allows livestock owners to secure and use preferred pastures through an auction within the framework of a three-year lease agreement. The program approved by the Government of Georgia on October 6 of this year, aims to promote rational pasture use, protect pastures from degradation, and simultaneously facilitate the development of the livestock sector by establishing legitimate private responsibility for pastures.
