National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring

The farmers of Iormughanlo community got acquainted with the State Program on "Access to State-Owned Pastures"

The First Deputy of the National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, Merab Kvaraya, introduced the details of the "Access to State-Owned Pastures" program and the participation terms to the farmers during a meeting held in the community center of Iormuganlo. The meeting was prepared with the involvement of the "Social Justice Center”.

Participation in the program will allow interested farmers, after completing the appropriate procedures, to benefit a 3-year lease on pastures registered as state property.

The State Program was approved by the Government of Georgia on October 6, 2021. The program aims to rationalize pasture use and introduce a fair mechanism for transferring them to farmers. Only farmers who own cattle and/or small ruminants are allowed to auction pasture land. For each head of cattle, pasture allocation ranges from 1 to 1.5 hectares, and for each head of small ruminant, it ranges from 0.2 to 0.5 hectares.

As of today, data on 317 units of leased pastures with a total area of 37,402 hectares have already been published in five stages. Additionally, information on 196 pastures, totaling 25,549 hectares, has been submitted to the National Agency for Property Management for an auction.
