More than 16,000 Ha of Pasture Registered in Ninotsminda Municipality
The pasture inventory and registration program in Ninotsminda Municipality has moved into its final stage.
The National Agency for Sustainable Land Management and Land Use Monitoring, with the involvement of local authorities and farmers, has identified registered, uncategorized and unregistered potential pasture areas. Within the scope of the project, field data regarding their condition was collected and cadastral-surveying works were conducted. Additionally, the categorization of these lands was carried out, and the resulting data was submitted for approval to the LEPL National Agency of State Property and the LEPL Agency of Protected Areas.
At the current stage, 16,687 ha of agricultural land plots have already been registered under the hayfields-pastures category. A map of the land plots registered in the Public Registry within Ninotsminda Municipality is available on the Agency’s website: https://land.gov.ge/Ge/Projects/Ongoing/1025 .
Work is ongoing to identify the remaining areas and register them as hayfields-pastures in the Public Registry. These activities are scheduled for completion in May of this year.
The goal of the project is to lay the foundation for effective pasture management reforms in Georgia and to pilot pasture inventory and record-keeping. The work performed will promote more efficient land resource management and support the development of the livestock sector in the region.
The project is implemented within the framework of the "Dairy Modernization and Market Access: Adaptation Component (DiMMAdapt)" program, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Adaptation Fund (AF).
